New Graphic Cigarette Warning Labels | Starting September 2012 | Pics

I am late in writing about the new labels announced by the FDA to start printing on cigarette boxes beginning September 2012 but for those that are not aware of the new labels or the real dangers tobacco smoking has to offer, here is a recap of what's in store. The idea is to bring the health effects of tobacco smoking to the masses in an in-your-face approach by placing hard to look at but very real images of the negative health effects of tobacco smoking.

There is nothing new here. We've known about the negative effects of tobacco for decades now but finally someone with balls decided to make bring it! One lingering question is: What causes these health problems? Is it the Nicotine or is it the tar and other chemicals in tobacco? Since I am not a scientist, I cannot say for sure but many agree that it is not the nicotine but the tar and burning of the tobacco that when inhaled into the lungs passed the lips, mouth, tongue, trachea, and larynx is the problem.

When Nicotine enters your body, it is distributed fast through the blood and crosses your blood-brain barrier reaching your brain within 10-20 seconds after inhalation. This makes Nicotine a very fast acting drug on the body. If Nicotine alone is inhaled, it can act both as a stimulant and a relaxant. It can reduce appetite, and make one very alert or sedated depending on how much Nicotine is inhaled. For this reason, when you take the burning of tobacco out of the equation, and you use a different delivery method such as an electric cigarette, it is believed that the health risks can be decreased.

If you think these images are disturbing, then they are doing their job. They are meant to make you want to quit or better yet, never start smoking tobacco cigarettes. If you fell you are ready to quit, give some of the alternatives a chance and we wish you the best!
